If you are a national of a country in the European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland, you can generally exchange your national driving license for a French license without taking a test. For nationals of countries outside the EEA or Switzerland, specific rules apply.

4. Validity of foreign license: Your foreign driving license must be valid and valid at the time of the exchange request. If your foreign license has expired, you may need to take the theoretical and practical exams to obtain a French license.

5. As soon as the residence permit is obtained, the applicant has a period of 1 year to make their request.
